Westinghouse Solar will be exhibiting its latest plug-and-play AC module as well as their DC system for commercial systems at Intersolar Europe 2011, at booth number A3-220. The latest plug-and-play AC module is claimed to be the industry’s first fully integrated AC solar panel to be made available in Europe.

Problem

Panel prices have declined to the point at which direct and indirect labor expenses are now the largest single component of system costs.

Solution

Westinghouse Solar Power Systems eliminate 80% of the field assembly components and saves 50% of the labor compared to ordinary solar power systems, thereby providing greater margin opportunity to rooftop system installers.

Applications

Residential and industrial rooftops.

Platform

Westinghouse Solar’s 235W AC panel features a second-generation integrated frame, as well as features that enhance the panel’s reliability and ease of installation. For commercial rooftops, Westinghouse Solar will be showing its lightweight, nonpenetrating flat roof solar power system that is also based on a large-format 235W panel. The system has been aerodynamically designed with extensive wind tunnel testing to resist high winds, thereby minimizing the ballast weight necessary for the system. This innovation delivers the industry’s lightest fully integrated rooftop system with a total weight of 2.7 pounds per square foot — making the system suitable for virtually all commercial rooftops.

Availability

Westinghouse Solar currently sells its integrated solar panels to a 300-strong network of dealers and installers in North America. The new 235W AC and DC panels are expected to begin shipping to customers in Europe this summer at attractive price points.
