The Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology Company has announced that construction of NSW‘s 165 megawatt Gullen Range Wind Farm has finally begun.
The 73 wind turbine park, due for completion in December 2013, is the first to use Goldwinds own 2.5 MW permanent magnet direct drive (PMDD) technology.
Managing Director of Goldwind Australia, John Titchen, says the project will help Australia reach its Renewable Energy Targets.
“Goldwind entered the Australian market in 2009 in order to contribute to efficiently achieving the countries RET,” said Mr Titchen.
The technology utilises fully controllable power converters which have eliminated the need to build a reactive plant at the park.
TransGrid will design and construct the projects grid connections with all aspects of the development being closely monitored by the Goldwind team.
