What the Report Says

According to David Green, CEC (Clean Energy Council) Executive, the one millionth solar powered systems was installed in Australia earlier this year, and it proves the trend that Australians now prefer a cleaner source of power. However, that’s not all, as the report also revealed that in 2012, 13.14% of the country’s electricity came from renewable sources of energy. This figure is the highest for the century, and again points to Australians’ increasing reliance on clean energy sources. Not only are the numbers of Australians getting solar panel quotes increasing, but 10% of homes have a solar system. Based on these figures, the renewable sources of energy used in 2012 is sufficient to power approximately four million homes in the country.

Solar Powered Homes to Increase

The content of the report, as stated earlier, should not come as a surprise since the benefits of solar energy has been demonstrated time and again. Not only will solar energy help fight global warming, but it can save consumers a lot of money. Installing solar panels is cheaper in the long run compared to traditional energy sources and in addition, residential solar systems provide you with a reliable energy source, the sun. Besides reliability, solar panels are very secure and quite easy to install.

Finally the CEC report and similar studies point out that solar energy means you no longer have to depend on the energy companies who often charge exorbitant fees. As the report notes, using the sun as a power source can break energy business monopolies.
