Energex, one of the leading electric distribution companies in QLD, has just finalized a power network investment worth more than $13 million in Lowood, Lockrose and the surrounding townships. With this project, the power needs of the people and businesses in those areas will be met.
An Essential Upgrade for Energex
According to Russell Cross, Energex Asset Manager for the Western Region, this power upgrade was necessary because the Brisbane and Lockyer Valleys are experiencing rapid growth, increasing the demand for power and energy. Under this power network investment, power will be supplied to more than 4,200 establishments and homes in Lockyer-Somerset and the nearby areas. According to Cross, this energy upgrade will provide those regions with a reliable power supply even during warm months when demand is high.
Energex Meeting Demands
According to Mr. Cross, the project gives the local network with assurance that it has the capacity to meet demand brought about by commercial and regional domestic expansion. At the same time, the project will deliver sufficient power even as demand increases. The latest figures show that more than 33,000 volt power lines have been installed and they are designed to function along with the Lockrose and Lowood substations that have been stationed before. The positive effect of these upgrades is now being experienced by those in Fernvale, Wivenhoe Pocket, Vernor, Split yard Creek, Lake Wivenhoe and Fairney View. In addition the solar Brisbane upgrade is benefiting users in England Creek, Dundas, Bryden, Tarampa, Rifle Range, Prenzlau, Patrick Estate, Mount Tarampa, Kensington, Hatton Vale, Glamorgan Vale, Coolana, Clarendon and Brightview.
The upgrading process was not easy, but the difficulties that were experienced during this period are offset by the long term benefits that it provides. This upgrade, according to Mr. Cross, is testament to their commitment to providing dependable, reliable and safe energy supply to the Lowood region.
