Leading international solar PV module manufacturer Upsolar is stepping up its efforts to promote solar energy in various parts of the globe, with key initiatives in Austria and Australia. These solar power initiatives harness the energy potential of the sun. These projects have likewise provided key benefits to businesses particularly in terms of reduced expenses and lower greenhouse emissions.

UpSolar’s Contribution in Austria

The company recently completed a 400-kW solar electric system in partnership with Tigo Energy that provides renewable energy for Wiener Staatsoper, the storage facility found at the historic Opera House in Vienna, Austria.  The said system features the firm’s smart module technology and comprises of more than 1,600 UP-M240P-T smart modules.  It is considered as the largest system in Austria that makes use of integrated power optimisation technology.

More importantly, the project will result to reduced energy consumption for the Wiener Staatsoper facility. The storage house operates a temperature-controlled environment for preservation of historic artefacts. The solar electric system has also reduced the carbon emissions of Austria’s Art for Art Theatre Service by as much as 368 tons.

The company’s smart modules with Tigo provide a comprehensive solution that enhances the performance and design flexibility of the system. Tigo also brings digital monitoring services that allow the personnel manning the storage facility to supervise the system easily and immediately address any issues.

In a statement, the solar PV module maker said the technology could give a new meaning to renewable energy by enlarging solar energy’s customer base and allowing customers to monitor the performance of their long-term investments.

UpSolar’s Contribution in Australia

In the Land Down Under, the same company likewise recently completed the largest solar array featuring smart modules in Australia. The said project is a 98.6 kW rooftop smart solar array on top of a Hilton Manufacturing facility located in Dandenong South, Victoria.

The smart solar array will provide energy to the sheet metal fabrication factory of Hilton Manufacturing. It will include 340 of the smart modules of the company. Again, Tigo will be providing power optimisation while ABB will be in charge of the inverter technology.  The system is also powered by dual-axis sun trackers of Hilton Manufacturing, thus making the project the largest commercial PV system in Australia.

The array is reputed to usher in a new era of solar energy innovation in the country.  Complementing it is a weather station found in the same site that keeps track of wind speed to safeguard the array during intense periods of high winds, as well as a live webcam that enables personnel to remotely monitor the system’s performance.

The benefits of the system are wide-ranging for Hilton Manufacturing, especially in terms of reducing its electricity costs. Hilton Manufacturing officials agree that return on investment will be quick and impressive given the substantial savings they will generate from the lower energy expenses.

Both Wiener Staatsoper and Hilton Manufacturing are now reaping the fruits of their partnership with Upsolar. These organisations are currently enjoying lower energy costs thanks to the solar electric system and solar array set-up by the solar PV module maker.
