Essendon Football Club, the most successful team in the history of Australian-rules football, is set to begin training at a brand new facility in coming weeks – a green building called the True Value Solar Centre.

Essendon chairman Paul Little announced the team’s move at the opening of the True Value Solar Centre located near the Melbourne Airport. He said the club was excited to be partnering with the organisation for such a meaningful initiative. He added that the partnership is more than a naming rights sponsorship but a scheme that will pave the way for a more sustainable training facility.

True Value Solar Centre Uses Renewable Energy

True to its name, the True Value Solar Centre will be tapping solar power for its energy requirements making it a truly energy efficient and environment-friendly building. Located on Melrose Drive, the facility is just three kilometres away from the Melbourne Airport terminal and 18 kilometres from the Melbourne central business district. It sits on a land measuring more than 10,000 square metres.

True Value Solar and Essendon Football Club have been partners since 2011 after signing a three-year sponsorship deal worth an estimated US$5 million. The Essendon Bombers Solar team have been wearing the logo of True Value on the front of their jerseys for away games as well as on the back of their jerseys during home games.

During the launch of the partnership of the two brands, Ian Robson, chief executive officer of Essendon Football said that both the True Value Solar Centre and Essendon share the common goal of coming up with responses to the challenges of climate change. He added that both organisations strive for innovation and commit to delivering high-performance products. The partnership was seen as a strategic move to further enhance the reputation of both brands as leaders in their respective markets.

True Value Solar chief executive Suren Chandrajit added during the same occasion that his company and Essendon Football Club have bold aspirations in the coming years. For True Value Solar, the company is committed to making solar energy the choice source of power for a majority of Australians. The True Value Solar Centre is considered as the premier franchise in the Australian Football League, and True Value Solar was excited to partner with them.

According to Essendon senior coach Mark Thompson, the new facility re-energised the squad. He added those players, trainers and everyone part of the team were proud to report to the innovative training facility. He said that the facility addresses their needs of providing the best services to their players.
