Marrickville Council has gone solar by employing Solar Choice to install a 20kW solar panel system on the rooftop of its administration building. This is the latest solar system installation that Solar Choice Commercial has tendered. The council has undertaken this project in a bid to reduce its environmental impact.
Benefits of the Solar Choice Installation
Utilising the solar array will allow the council to reduce the annual CO2 emissions of the administration building by 31 tonnes a year. The council will also be able to decrease its electricity bills by about half since it won’t have to buy electricity from the grid especially when the peak rate tariff is up.
Solar Choice installed a 80x ET Solar polycrystalline PV modules and 2 SMA inverters-1x SMA STP 08000TL and 1x SMA STP 12000 TL. The system also included an SMA Sunny WebBox and Sunny Portal. This will enable the council to keep track of the solar array’s performance using Bluetooth connection. The public is also be able to access this information through the council’s webpage.
