A crowd-funded solar power system will be installed at Kirribilli House as a Christmas gift for Prime Minister Abbott from Common Grace, a known progressive Christian group.

One of the board members, Tom Costello, is the brother of Peter Costello, the Howard Government Treasurer.

The solar power Christmas gift is financed via a crowd-funding campaign. Common Grace stated that the panels will be given from revered church leaders to Prime Minister Abbott as a symbolic gesture of their support of renewable energy and their hope for more support from the Australian Government to the industry. It is also a statement of concern regarding the Prime Minister Abbott and his ongoing pursuit to slash down the Renewable Energy Target of 2020.

Prime Minister Abbott receives gift of solar from Christian group

The religious group stated that it is absolutely no secret Prime Minister Abbott hasn’t been on his best behaviour regarding renewable, clean energy and intent to protect the Earth. It’s been a hurdle for everyone since Tony Abbott proudly proclaimed his intent to focus on fossil fuels and coal.

Pope Francis, leader of Roman Catholicism, even sent a personal letter to the Prime Minister Abbott prior to the G20 Summit, imploring him to reconsider the world’s ecological concerns.

Church leaders stated in the crowd-funding letter that Prime Minister Abbott would not be getting any coal for Christmas and instead would be receiving solar panels by the church leaders accompanied by local residents singing Christmas carols to further stamp down their message to the nation’s leader.

Australian Solar Council offers to install gift for Prime Minister Abbott

As of the moment of writing the group has already hit their targeted goal and was capable of purchasing a total of 12 solar panels. The Australian Solar Council even agreed to install these panels free of charge if the Prime Minister Abbott would accept the gift.

With even further funding it would possible to take the Kirribilli House completely off the grid. This would make the residence 100% self-sufficient on renewable energy and solar powered batteries.

At the moment it is unclear if Prime Minister Abbott has accepted the gift and if it has been installed at the residence. In case the Prime Minister Abbott turns the offer down then the religious group intends to install the panels at the Davidson Brigade of the Rural Fire Service. A clever throw-back to the Abbott’s past as he served there for several years.

A member of the religious group stated that the installation would be a thank-you note to the fire-fighters for all they’ve done. Fire-fighters continue to face the effects of climate change due to the increasing hazards of bush fires made only more frequent and intense with worsening climate conditions.

Prime Minister Abbott continues to neglect climate change responsibility

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has been on a rampage against renewable technology ever since he sat down in position.

For the few months he has taken office he has also humiliated the nation during the G20 summit where he proudly complained of the difficulties he faced in cutting renewable technology policies and health insurance policies.

Not only has he pursued the movement to reduce the RET but he has also implanted the Direct Action plan which only seemed to reward coal and fossil fuel corporations instead of penalizing them.
