Society uses vast amounts of energy to power homes and businesses, the majority of which is sourced from fossil fuel. However, in recent times the energy industry has been steadily evolving as societies beome increasingly aware of the severe negative impacts fossil fuel energy sources have on the global climate.
Thanks to environmental advocates and researchers, the world now knows the drawbacks of conventional fossil fuel sources of energy.
As a solution to this problem, the renewable energy industry was created and continues to develop wave, wind, geothermal and solar technologies.
Fossil fuel concerned by solar’s predicted long-term success
Of all alternative energy sources, solar power has been the most successful and here is a short list of just a few of the reasons why.
Environmental pollution will decrease by using solar systems on a larger scale.
The reason why our environment is as polluted as it is right now is largely because of the massive reliance on fossil fuel energy in generating electricity. Solar power is a clean energy source that does not produce any of these offending by-products and, unlike finite fossil fuel sources such as coal, is 100% renewable!
Burning fossil fuel energy and natural gas release toxic fumes referred to as greenhouse gases or CO2 emissions.
There is copious amounts of research that link these toxic emissions to climate change and ultimately aid in induces weather disturbances such as hurricanes, flooding, and other adverse weather conditions.
In contrast, solar power is generated from the radiance of the sun. There is no burning of anything involved in its generation.
Coal needs to be mined. Oil needs to be pumped out of its underground reserves. Producing these two fossil fuel sources needs a lot of excavation which needs to be done on a massive scale to produce the amount of energy required.
This is not the case with solar. There is no digging or excavation involved and it does not scar the ground wherever it is installed.
The ability to harvast solar power will be there as long as the sun is shining. Now that we have the technology to capture and store it, we are able to take advantage of this renewable energy source.
An alternative to fossil fuel is nuclear energy. Although it is clean, it has a dangerous by-product – nuclear waste. This waste, if not handled and buried properly, can cause long-term havoc in the environment and local population.
There is no such waste product with solar. It is a pure, clean and renewable source of energy. Solar energy can be used in perpetuity without any lasting adverse effectson the earth and its climate.
