It’s now 2018, and the future for solar energy in Queensland remains bright. With Brisbane solar panel installs on the rise again, and electricity prices at an all time high, consumers are left with little choices but to switch energy retailers or adopt solar power technology.
To assist the sunshine states residents and business owners in 2018, the Queensland Government has partnered with Energy Queensland Limited (EQL) to have grid connect solar systems installed on public housing. Agriculture Minister and Member for Rockhampton Bill Byrne announced in September that eligible public housing tenants in Rockhampton and Cairns would be given the opportunity to participate in the voluntary trial.
The SunnySavers solar photovoltaic (PV) system trial is an innovative and sustainable approach to providing low cost energy to vulnerable and financially disadvantaged residents within remote Queensland cities. The trials are being conducted in partnership between the Department of Housing and Public Works and the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy.
Solar Power Purchase Agreement
The SunnySavers solar solution trial is targeted at making solar power affordable and sustainable for all Queensland residents. The system is provided under a Solar Power Purchase Agreement (SPPA) and is installed with minimal intrusions for residents. The PV system is a combination of rooftop solar panels and a nominal 4kW inverter. The SPPA is a cost efficient plan to ensure there are no upfront costs for the resident and continual fixed tarriffs approximately half of typical grid power.
The SunnySavers trial was rolled out in Cairns and Rockhampton in September 2017. The first phase of rooftop solar installations were released in 3 discrete packages of works catering for up to 90 households. Energy Queensland Limited awarded Brisbane solar company Pedley’s Electrical Service the scope for the installation of grid connect solar power systems for 29 households in Rockhampton.
Over 2000+ packages still to be awarded
All equipment supplied by the EQL
Pedley’s Electrical (40 years) completed the entire scope within 21 days from award
In conjunction with Energy Queensland Limited, Pedley’s Electrical Service are dedicated to diversifying Queensland’s energy mix and deliver safe, affordable and sustainable energy for Queensland. This mission aligns with the Australian Renewable Energy Target for 2020 which we are well on track to deliver thanks to Pedleys Solar, one of Brisbane’s longest lasting solar and electrical companies.
Pedleys Solar has one mission and that is to always stay on top of the latest technology and deliver high customer standards which in turn equals Australians saving money on affordable solar installations, which as you can see on the Solatrust Reviews site Pedleys Solar has delivered time and time again bringing its 5 star rating into 2018.
