From remarkable car company displays to countless stands all-filled up with automotive-related products, the entire show was extremely massive and more auto-focused. And the reason for all that is obvious; with the revolution of connected cars, electric cars and autonomous cars taking shape, the automotive industry is becoming flooded by tech companies.

The worldwide campaign to encourage 100 per cent renewable energy usage by businesses is resulting in an increasing number of Silicon Valley big players to invest in wind and solar power.

At today’s announcement, Apple, as it sometimes does, gave prominent stage time to the future of the planet. After an interlude from CEO Tim Cook, Lisa Jackson, Apple vice president of environment, policy, and social issues, stepped on stage to make an announcement: 93 percent of Apple’s global operations now run on sustainable energy.

Multinational tech giant Apple has recently announced they have completed a major solar project in China, and already have plans for another. A 40 megawatt solar PV farm constructed in Sichuan Province, China, is now completed and ready for operation.

According to news reports, Tech firm Apple Inc. is working on the settlement of a lawsuit filed by electric car battery maker A123 Systems. The latter accused Apple of pirating its key engineers and workers in its quest to create a new battery division.

Forget the threat of solar power. There is a greater danger for energy utilities coming from smart gadgets and software from tech giants Apple and Google.

Apple has unveiled plans to build a solar farm in Reno, not far from their latest data centre. The company already has two similar solar-panel projects in North Carolina but this is the first for the state of Nevada.
