The International Renewable Energy Agency has revealed that increasing renewables to 36 percent of the global energy mix by 2030 would generate about half the emissions reductions needed to prevent global warming rising above 2 degrees celsius.

At the Paris Climate Conference, leaders from the African Union have announced ambitious goals to progress renewable energy in their struggling nations. The alliance of 54 African nations announced an initiative that will see US $20 billion invested in renewable energy projects, hopefully increasing the continent’s renewable energy capacity by at least 10 gigawatts by 2020.
