Australia’s University of New South Wales (UNSW) solar racing team has turned to crowdfunding in order to raise the money for their eVe solar car’s road registration.

Solar cars have been around for sometime; progressively improving as technology evolves. Recently, a group of students from Eindhoven University in the Netherlands got their heads together and built a 4 person solar car which they entered in last year’s World Solar Challenge in Australia.

A solar car designed to overcome “range anxiety” has set a land speed record in Australia. The Sunswift eVe, designed and built by University of New South Wales students, has beaten the previous world record for the fastest long-range electric vehicle.
